We’ve got a bit of a new look for The Video Awards. We’ve streamlined the home page to allow for a quicker download time and a better view of what’s going on. It’s purely a change to the homepage but we would love to hear if you like it better then the pure video layout.

Wow, this is some interesting news. Jumpcut being only 6 months old has been swallowed by Yahoo!. The news is still new so there isn’t any other details on it. You can see the post on the Yahoo blog and the Jumpcut blog hasn’t made any mention of it yet has a post about it here. I guess we’ll wait to see.
Ryan Carter from Download Squad has written a great article on how you can produce your own video to get your 15 minutes of fame.
…but now I can share my experience with you and the best easy and free ways I found to produce such a video in a day and a half on no budget that looks decent and make customers drool. You don’t need excellent computer skills either, but a little will to learn and a few hours time depending how involved you want this video to be. Take one, marker, action!
Pete at Mashable writes about Motionbox getting funding:
Another video sharing site gets funded: New York startup Motionbox will announce today that they’ve raised $4.2M in Series A funding from Canaan Partners, SAS Investors and ITOCHU Corporation. The cash will be used to build out Motionbox’s technology and for marketing purposes.
That’s great news for Motionbox, but am I missing something or are they lacking the ability to embed these videos on your own site? Not sure how you can possibly distinguish yourself without the ability to spread your videos virally. Not to mention, where’s the RSS?
Well it was bound to happen, you can now submit your videos from MySpace and Yahoo Video to The Video Awards. The content that comes from these providers are great and we hope to see alot of videos from them.
If you haven’t seen our latest winners for August make sure to check it out. We’re currently running our September contest so post your videos and vote!
August is finally over and so is our first unofficial contest. We’ve named the winner as well as some honorable mentions. Make sure to check it out here and a congratulations to 45 Degree Woman for taking home the award!

Marshall over at TechCrunch is reporting that AOL is to offer video from a handful of providers
AOL announced today that it has finalized deals to offer download to own deals with 20th Century Fox, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group through Video.AOL.com. AOL will now distribute content from all 6 the corporations owning major studios in the US, either through download to own or online.
There is just an amazing amount of news coming out of the video space these days and it’s very exciting to see it. There was another article by Business Week today speculating on the next buy out. It’s an interesting read.
